Five years ago, I met Robert Feol at a Mid-South Real Estate Investors meeting. I know he does not remember this meeting, but he was very cordial at that time. I was looking to get into real estate investment, but I was really not ready to jump in. I felt it was not the right time for me. Once again, I bumped into Robert at an accountant’s office. Again, I am sure he does not remember this chance meeting either. Robert was very cordial as we spoke for a few brief minutes. I actually thought that this guy would be great to get together with some time to learn how to get started in real estate investment. Two years later as I was driving to Starbucks for a Saturday cup of coffee, I heard Robert on the radio. I really couldn’t believe my ears. My first thought was, “I know this guy”! I remembered him from our brief encounters in the past and listened to his program. I was really impressed with what I heard. He gave out his personal cell number on his program, to my amazement, and I wrote it down. I was so excited I shared this with my wife and decided to give Robert a call the following Monday.
My interest in real estate investment was simple. I wanted income replacement. I am an older father and wanted to find a way out of the “rat race” to buy my freedom. I wanted to spend more time with my family. I felt like I was running without purpose. How could I start down the path of investment without the knowledge or the time to learn what seemed like a daunting task? I’ll tell you how it happened for me.
Robert was eager and willing to work with me. To say I was a novice investor would have been an understatement. I had no idea what I was doing. Robert guided me and my wife through this educational and emotional roller coaster for months. During his time Robert never placed any pressure or demands on me. Robert was always freely giving of his time without asking for anything in return. I would like to say his knowledge is what made the difference for me, but that would not be entirely true. If not for Robert’s motivational vision, I honestly don’t know if I would have ever joined the game. I felt like Robert understood what I wanted and the fears and obstacles I faced in my own mind to get there. In short, Robert and I became friends.
I began my real estate investment path solely due to Robert’s influence. In the past fourteen months I have purchased five homes from Robert. All five have been winners. I was able to make purchase and mortgage deals I did not know were possible due to Robert’s wealth of knowledge. Although I have much more to learn, Robert has taught me enough in these months that I feel at ease in purchasing investment property. I will be in many future deals with Robert.
Lastly, I would like to take a moment to share the real reason Robert is successful. He actually cares about the success of his clients. What a concept in this world! I am a man with integrity and respect others who share those core values. When I was growing up I was taught to do what you say you will do when you say you will do it. Let’s face it, we are human and make mistakes. Nobody is perfect. We all fall short from time to time. It is in these times the character of a person comes to light. Real estate investment is not a perfect science. Investors will experience the ebb and flow of markets and deals. Without expanding on details, I personally know Robert was involved in a real estate deal worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. He had made promises to people in this transaction. Unfortunately for Robert, the deal fell through no fault of his own. It would have been easy for Robert to pull out all together and cut his losses. He chose to take the high road and honor his commitments. The deal was completed as promised through great difficulty and personal hardship to Robert. The only person I want in my corner coaching and guiding me through the world of successful real estate investing is Robert Feol. He truly is a man of integrity that can be trusted.
